Brigita Haslah

Brigita Haslah's novel "Between Heaven and Earth" brings an emotional and life story about human destinies, finding one's own path and bridging internal and external moments of crisis.

The novel "Between Heaven and Earth" enriches the work of writer Brigita Haslah through a narrative and psychologically layered prose reading. The title of the work itself carries a strong metaphor for the existential space in which its protagonists find themselves - caught in the gap between everyday reality, transience and the personal search for a higher meaning, spiritual peace and emotional stability. Through an accessible and warm narrative style, the author places intimate human relationships, family and homeland ties and internal turning points that the characters face in challenging times at the center of the plot. Thematically, the motifs of love, personal sacrifice, loneliness and hope are intertwined. Her characters are striking in life, and through their experiences and decisions, the author raises questions about moral choices, forgiveness and the strength of an individual to overcome life's adversities. The novel is characterized by a strong focus on the emotional state of the characters and their spiritual maturation, which confirmed the work as one of the important prose works within the regional Slavonian and Croatian literature of the late 1990s.
