Zagor LU #301: Krik vile smrti
After fighting for survival on a disintegrating iceberg, Zagor and Chico encounter Irish settlers threatened by a mysterious cult known as the Servants of Cromm.
Krik vile smrti (The Banshee’s Cry) links the conclusion of a polar adventure with the beginning of a mystery drawing on Celtic folklore. First, Zagor and his companions must escape a desperate situation in the North Atlantic: they are adrift on an iceberg that is breaking apart and steadily shrinking. Their refuge is disappearing beneath their feet.
Later, while travelling back towards Darkwood, Zagor and Chico seek hospitality with a family of Irish immigrants. What promises to be a welcome rest draws them into another danger. Their hosts are caught up in a sinister affair involving vengeance and masked men calling themselves the Servants of Cromm.
Moreno Burattini shifts the tension from the struggle against nature to the menace of a secretive cult. The banshee motif lends the new storyline an ominous atmosphere, placing a figure associated with death alongside the settlers’ disturbing predicament. Familiar surroundings offer little reassurance when the danger follows its victims across an ocean.
Roberto Piere illustrates the conclusion of the northern expedition, while Giuliano Piccininno takes over for the new adventure. The issue therefore closes one perilous journey and opens the storyline continued in Crommov glasnik.
