Akvitanska zavjera

Akvitanska zavjera

Robert Ludlum

After a bullet-riddled childhood friend dies in his arms, attorney Joel Converse sets out to hunt down a secret organization. Classic Ludlum: paranoia, speed, a global network and a hero who runs faster than bullets. The 80s in full glory.

American lawyer Joel Converse, a former Vietnam pilot still haunted by war nightmares, receives incredible information in Geneva: his old war comrade, a panicked lawyer, before he is killed, whispers to him that a new global conspiracy is being born – the military-industrial complex led by the fanatical General George Marcus Delavane plans to take over the power in the USA, France, Germany, Israel and South Africa, create a “new order” and cause controlled chaos that will enable them to establish a dictatorship.

The group is called “Aquitaine” – after the medieval kingdom – and has already infiltrated the top military and intelligence services. Converse, the only one who knows the names of four key generals, becomes a hunted man: he is being hunted by the CIA, Mossad, Interpol, mercenaries, and no one believes that he is not crazy.

From Geneva to Paris, Amsterdam, Tel Aviv and Bonn, Converse escapes through 800 pages of pure Ludlum adrenaline – false allies, double agents, murders in elevators, bombings. The only person he trusts is Valerie, his ex-wife, whom he once again involves in danger.

The ending at the German castle reveals that Delavane has already started a chain of assassinations. Converse must stop "Aquitania" before the world falls into the hands of new Nazis - this time in suits and with nuclear codes.
