Roman "U registraturi" objavljen je 1888. godine, u nastavcima u književnom časopisu "Vijenac", a kao knjiga objavljen je tek 1911. godine i predstavlja vrhunac stvaralaštva Ante Kovačića (1854-1889), hrvatskog romanopisca i pesnik.
