Paraf

The album "Izleti" by the Rijeka band Paraf was released in 1981 for ZKP RTVL. It represents the band's key transition from their punk roots to dark post-punk and gothic rock, and a masterpiece of the Yugoslav new wave.

The album "Izleti" is the second studio release by the legendary Rijeka rock band Paraf, released in 1981 by ZKP RTVL. Unlike their raw and uncompromising debut punk album A dan je toki lijepo počo, "Izleti" brings a radical and bold stylistic turn towards post-punk, new wave and darker gothic rock structures, placing them right alongside the European alter-trends of the time.

Recorded during the summer of 1981 at Ljubljana's Tivoli Studio under the direction of producer and engineer Aco Razbornik, the album offers cooler, more layered and synthesizer-enriched arrangements. The band's lineup during that crucial period consisted of vocalist Vim Cola, guitarist and keyboardist Ritchie Rš Vičić, bassist Zdrave Čabrijan, drummer Dušan Pjer Ladavac and keyboardist Raul Varlen, with the entire band writing their own songs.

Through eleven songs, the album offers timeless compositions such as "Pobuna bubuljuci", "Kao rane trešnje", "Javna kupatila", the monumental "Nestašni đački izleti", the cold anthem "Želim biti vojnik", and the dark compositions "Ti još nisi" and "Tužne uši". The sound and visual atmosphere of the release is further complemented by an original visual identity with an inner sleeve containing the lyrics, which has made "Izleti" one of the most important and influential discographic achievements of the Yugoslav alternative rock scene.
