Kralj petroleja

Kralj petroleja

Karl May

The Oil Prince is a story by Karl May that he wrote for the magazine Der Gute Kamerad between August 1892 and the beginning of 1893. The story of the same name, Der Oelprinz, which was published in 1878, is not a precursor to this famous youth story.

There are three storylines that come together as the story progresses.

A group of German emigrants are about to be robbed by the Finders, a notorious gang. Sam Hawkens, Dick Stone and Will Parker find out about this and offer to help. They lead the emigrants on, while the Finders remain trapped at the end of the first chapter.

The trek's villainous leader, Poller, frees the leader of the Finders. Together they meet Grinley, Buttler's half-brother, at Forner's rancho, who wants to sell the banker Rollins an alleged oil well and then cheat him out of the money.

Hobble-Frank and Aunt Droll become suspicious and want to prevent this.

The villain trio sets a trap for their opponents and so the “Cloverleaf”, Frank and Droll as well as the emigrants are captured by Nijoras. Grinley, Buttler, Poller, the banker Rollins and his accountant ride on.

So while the banker and his accountant are taken to the oil well by Grinley and his brother, they run into the warring Indian tribes of the Nijoras and Navajos. A game of mutual capture and betrayal begins.

However, Winnetou and Old Shatterhand arrive in time to free the prisoners, save the banker and reconcile the Indians.
