Roman mumije

Theopile Gautier

To reconstruct the splendor of the Nile civilization, Théophile Gautier used all the knowledge of emerging Egyptology and gave us one of the first novels about ancient Egypt, which Europe has dreamed of since the works of Napoleon and Champollion.

In a tomb in the Valley of the Kings, a young English lord and an archaeologist discover the mummy of a young girl of incredible beauty. Near her, the papyrus tells her story... This is how the fate of Tahoser, the daughter of the Egyptian high priest, who falls in love with a Hebrew, is revealed to us. She is ready to share the life of a slave nation, but the pharaoh, passionately in love with her, kidnaps her and offers her power and wealth... The drama culminates when the Hebrews set off with Moses towards the Red Sea, pursued by the monarch at the head of his army.
