Angelin prah

Angelin prah

Frank Mccourt

The novel has become a contemporary classic due to its narrative power and touching coming-of-age story. The novel was a sensational success immediately after its publication and won the prestigious Pulitzer Prize in the biography category.

Published in 1996, already in 1999 the famous director Alan Parker adapted the novel to the screen, and new editions, in numerous world languages, appear year after year. In Croatia, too, this novel saw three editions, but after many years and numerous inquiries from readers who wanted to have their own copy, Zlatko Crnković's translation is coming to light again. McCourt tells the story of his family, one of the few who quickly after emigrating to America, returns to Ireland where he begins a kind of pilgrimage, where he often encounters closed doors, sometimes even those that should always be open to people like them. . Frank McCourt wrote the novel spontaneously and without great pretensions, and although the topic seems painful, the author writes without judgment, self-pity and malice, even humorously in places. The reader gets attached to the characters and the story and wants the book to last as long as possible, and only rare writers succeed in this.
