Emil i detektivi

Emil i detektivi

Erich Kästner

Emil and his mother put the money they had saved for their grandmother (140 marks) in an envelope, as well as the money needed for Emil's return home and some pocket money for Emil.

Emil put the money in the inside pocket of his coat. Emil's mother, Mrs. Tischboin, sent her son to his grandmother in Berlin. He took flowers for his grandmother, his suitcase and set off. On the train, Emil fell asleep and a man in a stiff hat, Grundias, took his money. When the train stopped, Emil got off the train at the wrong station. Then he noticed that he had no money. He was confused when he realized that his money had been stolen. He met Gustav and told him what had happened to him. Gustav called the boys. Grundias took a taxi, preparing to escape. The boys chased after him. He went to a hotel, and the boys hid. Gustav went in after him so that he could spy on him. A little later, Grundias went to the bank and was met there by the boys with the bank employees and a guard. There they caught him. Mother and Emil returned home together, happy and satisfied.
