Kralj Rima: Poviest Napoleonovog sina

Octave Aubry

The novel details the life of François-Charles Bonaparte, known as Napoleon II. Born in 1811 as the son of Napoleon Bonaparte and Maria Louise of Austria, he held the title of "King of Rome", the symbolic heir to the French Empire.

After Napoleon's fall, the young prince was taken to Vienna, where he grew up under the strict supervision of the Habsburg monarchy, receiving the title of Duke of Reichstadt. Aubry describes his isolation, inner struggles, and longing for his father's legacy. Despite the luxury of the Viennese court, Napoleon II lived in the shadow of his great father, faced with political intrigue and his own health problems.

The author skillfully depicts the contrast between the young prince and his father, highlighting Napoleon's charisma against his son's loneliness and powerlessness. Through a detailed narrative, Aubry explores themes of identity, destiny, and political manipulation, providing a deep insight into the life of a young man destined for greatness but caught between two worlds.

The King of Rome is not just a biography, but also an emotional story of lost dreams and unfulfilled ambitions, which brings the reader closer to the tragic fate of Napoleon's son.
