Atlas gljiva
A practical guide intended for nature and mushroom lovers, not professional mycologists. The Mushroom Atlas is appreciated for its educational value and aesthetic appearance, remaining a classic handbook for mushroom pickers in the region.
The book covers about 1000 species of mushrooms from Europe, America, Africa, Asia and the Far and Middle East, of which 600 are described in detail with color illustrations (cap, stem, cross-section) by Laura Rosano Maggiore and art equipment by Ivo Friščić. The focus is on the better-known and easily recognizable species, so that amateurs can learn to observe mushrooms with an “experienced eye”.
The content includes advice on mushroom picking, locations, growing time, cooking recipes and artificial cultivation. Particular emphasis is placed on caution with poisonous mushrooms, along with the fight against superstition. The book offers a practical key for determining genera and groups, an index of Latin-Croatian and Croatian-Latin names, and detailed descriptions of habitats and characteristics. Pace emphasizes the enjoyment of nature, rather than scientific mycology, making the work accessible to a wider audience.
