U centru svijeta

U centru svijeta

Milorad Popović

The texts deal with issues of identity, nation, language, culture and politics, with an emphasis on the position of Montenegro in the regional and European context.

The author critically analyzes historical myths, nationalisms and ideological manipulations, pointing to the continuities of authoritarian patterns and cultural conflicts. He pays special attention to the role of intellectuals, literature and the media in shaping public discourse, and the relationship between the center and the periphery – the symbolic “center of the world” of the title. Popović’s style is polemical, engaged and argumentative, often provocative, but based on the essayist tradition and cultural analysis. The book can be read as a testimony of the times, but also as a call for critical thinking, civic responsibility and the defense of cultural pluralism.
