Mala povijest kartanja

Mala povijest kartanja

Slavko Krešo Mrkoci

The book is a brief, popular-historical overview of the origin and development of card games in the world, with special emphasis on the Croatian context.

The book is not a comprehensive scientific monograph, but an accessible, concise "little history" intended for lovers of cards and Croatian tradition. The Croatian part is particularly noteworthy because the author emphasizes that Croatia is often overlooked in world reviews of the history of card playing, and this book gives it a well-deserved place. Later (2017), the author, based on this work and his doctoral dissertation, published a more comprehensive book "The History of Card Playing in Croatia" (Selman), which is more detailed and richly illustrated.
