Priče s dvora kralja Janeza

Priče s dvora kralja Janeza

Slavko Pregl

Tales from the Court of King Janez is a collection of humorous and satirical short stories by Slavko Pregl, in which, through ingenious, often allegorical stories, the fictional "royal court" is depicted as a picture of society and its relationships.

King John and his entourage are presented in a humorous and ironic manner, and through various episodes the author criticizes human weaknesses, bureaucracy, vanity and absurd situations in social and political life. Although the stories are light and humorous, a more serious social criticism often lies behind them. The characters at court behave exaggeratedly, comically or illogically, thereby emphasizing the absurdity of the government and the system. The humor is based on irony, wordplay and unexpected turns.
