Meddle

Meddle

Pink Floyd

Pink Floyd – Meddle, licensed by Jugoton, is one of the most important progressive rock releases on the domestic market. The album features the iconic song Echoes and marks the band's transition to their creative peak.

Meddle is the sixth studio album by the British band Pink Floyd, originally released in 1971, and licensed to the Yugoslav market by Jugoton for the Harvest label. The first Jugoton release appeared in 1976, while during 1978 and the early 1980s new editions followed with minor differences in labels and matrices, but with the same recognizable gatefold cover and illustration of an ear underwater.

The album opens with the powerful instrumental One of These Days, followed by the melodic compositions A Pillow of Winds, Fearless, San Tropez and the bluesy Seamus. The entire second side of the LP is occupied by the monumental Echoes, a more than 23-minute long composition that is considered one of the most important works of progressive rock. It was on this song that the band developed the musical approach that they would later perfect on the albums The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here and Animals.

Jugoton's edition is especially appreciated among collectors due to its high-quality domestic pressing, distinctive yellow-green Harvest labels and a cover that faithfully follows the original British edition. Today, Meddle (LSHV 73019) is one of the most sought-after Yugoslavian releases by Pink Floyd and an indispensable title in the collections of fans of progressive rock and ex-YU vinyl.
