The latest work by American writer Jacqueline Susann, author of the cult classic Valley of the Dolls. A novel about the young widow of an American president who faces publicity, loss, and new love.

The main character, Dolores Ryan, is a young, attractive widow of an assassinated American president. After the tragedy, she lives under constant pressure from the media and the public. While trying to find a new meaning in life, she enters into a relationship with a charismatic but controversial man. Through her story, Susann explores the themes of fame, loneliness, political power and the price that women pay in the world of the elite.

The novel is partly inspired by real events and characters (associations with Jacqueline Kennedy), written in Susann's recognizable style - tense, sensationalist and focused on the internal conflicts of women who live between duty and their own desires.

The novel is a character study about the fragility of happiness and the search for fulfillment in the midst of a glamorous but ruthless society. Typical Susann: a mixture of melodrama, social criticism and emotional drama.
