The debut studio album of the legendary Rijeka band Paraf, A dan je tako lijepo počeo, was released in 1980 by the ZKP RTVL record company. This release holds a sacred place in the history of domestic music because it is officially considered the first true punk album released in the former Yugoslavia, irrevocably marking the beginning of the new wave and punk movement in this region.
Recorded in January 1980 at the Akademik studio in Ljubljana, the album brings a raw, noisy, fast and completely uncompromising sound that faithfully reflected the social frustrations, alienation and subversive spirit of the city's youth of the late seventies. The band's creative and performing backbone in that pioneering era consisted of vocalist Valter Kocijančić, guitarist Vlado Simcich Vava, bassist Zdrave Čabrijan and drummer Dušan Pjer Ladavac, with the creative contribution and collaboration of Velid Đekić.
Through short, punchy songs with sharp guitar riffs, the album offers anthems of a generation such as the title track "A dan je tako lijepo poceo", "Narodna pjesma", "Goli otok", "Riff", "Paraf" and "Nazi policija". Due to its provocative lyrics and breaking of the taboos of the time, the release attracted great attention from the public and censors.
