Die Erstausgabe dieses Buches stammt aus dem Jahr 1892 (anlässlich des 400. Jahrestages der Entdeckung Amerikas durch Kolumbus), die zweite erschien 1980. Dies ist die dritte, sprachlich aktualisierte Ausgabe von Carićs Buch.
