Fr. James Manjackal was born in 1946 in Cheruvellju, Kottayam, in the state of Kerala in southern India, and was ordained a priest in 1973 in the Congregation of the Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales (M.S.F.S) in the South Western Province of India.
