Claire Danner Crispin, a mother of four and renowned glass artist, is so busy she can't breathe. Despite this, she accepts an offer to host a summer gala for a local charity.
One of the reasons the association has chosen her is her high school relationship with the famous rock star, Max West. Max agrees to perform and everything seems to be going well, until Claire decides to produce a masterpiece for auction. She also offers her best friend to do the catering for the gala, gets into a fight with her snobbish co-host, and gets into a love affair with the association's president, Lockhart Dixon...
