Schindlerov lift

Schindlerov lift

Darko Cvijetić

In Prijedor, a small town in Bosnia, thirty years after World War II, two "skyscrapers" rise – red and blue. In the red sky, the lives of residents of different destinies, nations and religions intertwine.

The once relaxed and dynamic life in a multinational town disappears during the last war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which now writes the tragic stories of the building's residents who are suffering. In about thirty chapters, each of which is a story in itself, and the elevator (brand Schindler) is the link between all the stories, the world of workers' rise and hope and the previously tolerant and peaceful coexistence of different nations and religions collapses. The novel was awarded the Fric Prize for 2018/2019.
