Povratak kući (2016) je debitantski roman gano-američke autorke Ja Gjasi, koji je osvojio brojne nagrade i postao međunarodni bestseler.

Roman počinje u Gani u 18. veku. Dve polusestre, Efija i Esi, rođene su u različitim okolnostima i nikada se nisu srele. Efija se udaje za engleskog guvernera i živi u luksuzu Kasla Kejp Koust, tvrđave iz koje se odvijala trgovina robljem. Esi je zarobljena u istoj tvrđavi i prodata u ropstvo u Americi. Od tog trenutka, roman prati njihove potomke kroz osam generacija – paralelne sudbine na dva kontinenta.

U Gani pratimo nasleđe ratova, kolonijalizma i posledica trgovine robljem, dok u Americi svedočimo ropstvu na plantažama, građanskom ratu, segregaciji, Harlemu džez doba pa sve do modernog doba. Svako poglavlje je posvećeno potomku, stvarajući mozaik glasova i sudbina.

Gjasi piše snažno, poetski i precizno, bez sentimentalnosti. Roman duboko istražuje teme nasleđene traume, rase, identiteta, porodice i povratka korenima. „Povratak kući“ je ambiciozno, emotivno i intelektualno snažno delo koje se smatra jednim od najvažnijih romana 21. veka o nasleđu ropstva i afroameričkom iskustvu.
