Stjepan Crnić

The collection of short stories "Blue Cornflower" follows time and life through their mutual intertwining, a connection that manifests itself in the smallest moment of time and the smallest fragment of life.

Stories like sparks of time, moments captured in words, testify to the small events of life that time, as a silent observer, stores in an endless basket of duration. When they speak about the transience of life through recognizable life images, they undoubtedly remind us of the omnipresence of transience, of the fact that time always beats at the same rhythm and whether we like it or not, it passes by and asks us nothing, does not seek any explanations, does not judge, does not argue with us, it simply moves on... The chapter "Transience" clearly speaks about this most obvious and painful aspect of life. The excitement at the beginning of life, the energy of enthusiasm and the lack of burden with time, which we think we have in abundance, slowly melts away and turns into a fight with that same time in order to somehow slow down its pace if it cannot be stopped. Depicting our reality, our present, moments of existence that have recently passed or are still ongoing, the stories give us insight into ourselves, into our loved ones, into the omnipresence of the life we find ourselves in and whose presence we sometimes do not notice and feel enough. In the chapter "Reality", they describe current everyday events, placing them before us as our own reflection in a mirror. Thus, these events are like images stopped in a moment, torn away from the tireless monotonous march of time, torn away from transience. This gives us the opportunity to better perceive them and learn the life lessons written in them.
