Wer ohne Sünde ist...

Wer ohne Sünde ist...

Susanne Seitz

Who is without sin... is Susanne Seitz's debut novel about the young Lisa Wegner who flees from a provincial estate to Munich at the beginning of the 20th century in search of an artistic and free life.

The action takes place in Germany shortly after the turn of the century. Lisa Wegner grows up sheltered on a country estate, far from the exciting life of big cities. Even as a young girl, she rebels against the rigid conservative norms and moral expectations of her family. She dreams of becoming an artist and goes to Munich.

In the capital of Bavaria, he enters the colorful, intellectual and bohemian scene of Schwabing - a world of artists, philosophers, free love and social experiments. There he experiences ups and downs, sexual and emotional addiction, losses and the search for his own identity.

Seitz writes idealistically, philosophically and at the same time very physically and passionately. The novel explores the themes of female emancipation, artistic calling, loneliness and the price of freedom. The author does not idealize bohemian life, but shows it with drama and realistic details.

The work is characteristic of her later work: a focus on strong female characters, emotional addictions, self-searching and the tension between tradition and modernity. An emotional and thoughtful historical novel about a woman searching for her place in a changing world.
