Understanding art, through historical classification in the visual arts, such as painting, sculpture, architecture and applied arts (decorative and more recently design and photography), is the main task of art history. Art history includes the study of objects created in different cultures around the world and through history that convey meaning, significance or purposefully serve above all as visual means.
