Begovi su pali na tjeme (Murselove filipike)

Filip Mursel Begović

This collection, as the subtitle states, Mursel's Philippics, is a selection of stories, essays, and columns that Begović published over the course of six years (2006-2012), primarily in Mursel's Šegistan, a regular column in Preporod's Journal, but also

In those six years, hardly any of Begović's published texts did not cause unrest and confusion within the Bosniak community in Zagreb and Croatia, and much wider. Often satirical, the columns provided readers with enough material for speculation about who was hiding behind the fictional names of the story's protagonists, until the next issue, when a new column would inspire new speculation. Selected and collected in one book, the stories, essays and columns represent a blow to the plexus of the entire Bosniak people. Sharp and harsh criticism, cynical detachment, realistic perception of the community and its hypocrisy of the system and the protagonists of the social, institutional and political life of Bosniaks and Muslims are the subject of Begović's writing nightmares. I love you Bosniaks, but you're going for my liver is a sentence that reveals the state of mind that guided Begović's hand.
