Roman Psi u trgovištu (1986.) Ivana Aralice smješten je u Dalmaciju 18. stoljeća, u razdoblje mletačke vlasti. Djelo je povijesni roman s elementima filozofskog promišljanja, karakterističan za Araličin stil.

Radnja prati sudbinu mladog plemića Andrije, koji se vraća u rodni kraj nakon školovanja u Italiji. Suočen s korupcijom, licemjerjem i borbama za moć u trgovištu, Andrija pokušava očuvati svoje ideale, ali upada u sukob s lokalnim moćnicima i njihovim intrigama. Roman prikazuje sukob između pojedinca i zajednice, gdje se pojedinac bori protiv moralnog posrnuća i društvenih normi. Naslovni "psi" simboliziraju pohlepu, izdaju i moralnu degradaciju koja prožima trgovište, ali i šire društvo.

Aralica kroz slojevite likove i bogate opise stvara sliku života u Dalmaciji, gdje se miješaju mletački utjecaji, lokalni običaji i unutarnji sukobi. Pitanja pravde, časti i slobode prožimaju priču, dok se Andrija suočava s dilemama o odanosti obitelji, ljubavi i vlastitim uvjerenjima. Roman se ističe Araličinom sposobnošću da spoji povijesni kontekst s univerzalnim temama, poput borbe za integritet u korumpiranom svijetu.

Psi u trgovištu je snažna kritika društvenih nepravdi, ali i meditacija o ljudskoj snazi da se odupre zlu, čineći ga značajnim djelom hrvatske književnosti.
