Maček i politika hrvatske seljačke stranke 1928-1941

"Maček and the Politics of the Croatian Peasant Party 1928–1941" is a two-volume scholarly monograph that provides a detailed analysis of the political activities of Vladko Maček and the Croatian Peasant Party (HSS) in the period between the two world wars. Author Ljubo Boban uses rich archival material to present the complex relations within the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, with a special emphasis on the Croatian national question.

The first volume covers the period from 1928 to 1935, focusing on Maček's assumption of leadership of the HSS after the assassination of Stjepan Radić, and on his opposition to the centralist policies of the Belgrade regime. The second volume covers the period from 1935 to 1941, with a special emphasis on the negotiations that led to the Cvetković–Maček Agreement of 1939 and the establishment of the Banovina of Croatia.

The book provides a detailed account of Maček's strategy of political activity, his relationship with the royal court, Serbian opposition parties, and international factors. Boban analyzes both the internal dynamics within the HSS, and the influence of external events, such as the rise of fascism and the threat of war, on the party's political decisions.
