Honore de Balzac

Honoré de Balzac (1799–1850) ist einer der bedeutendsten französischen Schriftsteller des Realismus. Er wurde in Tours geboren und studierte Rechtswissenschaften, widmete sich aber bald der Literatur. Sein monumentales Werk „Die menschliche Komödie“ (La Comédie humaine) umfasst mehr als 90 Romane und Kurzgeschichten, in denen er die französische Gesellschaft des 19. Jahrhunderts realistisch darstellte.

Balzac ist bekannt für seine außergewöhnlichen analytischen Fähigkeiten, detaillierten Beschreibungen und die psychologische Tiefe der Charaktere. Zu seinen berühmtesten Romanen zählen „Otac Goriot“, „Evgenija Grandet“, „Verlorene Illusionen“ und „Der Ruhm und das Elend der Kurtisane“. Er war ein produktiver Schriftsteller, besessen von der Arbeit und schrieb oft nachts mit reichlich Kaffee.

Trotz finanzieller Probleme und eines anstrengenden Lebensstils hinterließ er unauslöschliche Spuren in der Weltliteratur. Seine Werke inspirierten viele Autoren, darunter Flaubert, Zola und Dickens. Er starb 1850 in Paris und hinterließ ein Werk, das bis heute die Grundlage des realistischen Romans bildet.
