Što mi je šaputao Zeus?

Što mi je šaputao Zeus?

Dražen Katunarić

What secrets or truths did Zeus whisper to the author, or to the lyrical hero, that question automatically arises, as soon as we read the title of the book "What did Zeus whisper to me?".

On his way from the verses, Dražen Katunarić in this book, in a rhapsodic way, drinkily and flutteringly questions and re-examines how much of the ancient, the mythical is actually left - in us and around us. And it seems that he listened to the advice of the great Zbigniew Herbert, who, like him, relies on ancient and Mediterranean traditions in his work, and allowed, left the Greek gods and mythical heroes Apollo, Hera, Aphrodite, Dionysus, Orpheus to freely enter and exit from the labyrinth of song, the labyrinth of everyday life, bridging centuries and millennia, and they communicate, comment - live and create again...

There is a wide spectrum of actions in which the poet achieves this, from the most common, encouraging the spider in the bathroom, which he calls Arachne, after the Lydian weaver who, competing in weaving with Athena, wove a story about the adventures of the gods, to work and not sleep, to those more exalted, when he hesitates to invoke the god of fertility and enjoyment, to whom he addresses with awe, because he might yield to his influence. In which world do we live and to which world do we belong, as if the poet is constantly examining the shadows of the ages, this or that, or is the world always one, intertwined, timeless, and we are just extras, unworthy of any important role, left to the black sail for the other shore .
