
Madam Bovari
Madam Bovari je remek-delo poznatog francuskog pisca Gistava Flobera i klasik svetske književnosti. Roman, objavljen 1857. godine, prati tragičnu priču Eme Bovari, žene nezadovoljne svojim životom na francuskom selu.
Udata za dobrodušnog, ali prosečnog doktora Šarla Bovarija, Ema sanja o strastvenoj ljubavi, luksuzu i uzbuđenju kao što je čitala u romantičnim romanima. Brzo shvativši da joj brak ne donosi sreću ni uzbuđenje koje je očekivala, Ema započinje niz ljubavnih veza – prvo sa gospodinom Rodolpheom Boulangerom, a kasnije i sa mladim advokatom Leonom Dupuisom. Osim toga, Ema se bavi ekstravagantnom potrošnjom, kupujući luksuzne predmete na kredit kako bi zadovoljila svoju želju za boljim životom.
Dok njene ljubavi propadaju i njeni dugovi rastu, Ema se suočava sa beznadežnom situacijom. Kada joj preti javna sramota i finansijska propast, u očaju uzima otrov i umire u strašnim mukama. Čarls, shrvan svojim gubitkom i istinom o njenim poslovima, ubrzo i sam umire, ostavljajući njihovu ćerku siročetom.
