Anđeo u ofsajdu
The book exudes humor, but in a bizarre way it outlines human stupidity, primitivism and hypocrisy.
Zoran Ferić highlights the paranoia of the common man and his own horrors. Despite the fact that his cynicism, bizarreness and dark humor are excessive for some people's taste, they are Ferić's trump cards in winning over readers of all ages as well as the profession that calls him the originator of a new type of Croatian prose, and which awards him. Zoran Ferić won the Ksaver Šandor Gjalski Award in 2000 for his story collection "Anđeo u ofsajdu". The story collection Anđeo u ofsajdu has received the most important Croatian literary awards and praise from all Croatian critics, and it was at the top of the book charts for almost two years. After more than ten years have passed since its publication, it can be said that it is one of the most important domestic prose books of the first decade of this century and that it was precisely it that enthroned Ferić at the very top of Croatian literature.
