Portret duše

In the touching novel Portrait of a Soul, Miro Gavran tells us about the lives of seven women. In their stories, presented in different literary and non-literary genres (narrative, memoir, film script, war reportage, etc.), an important place is occupied by the painter Benjamin, a portraitist whose artisanal and above all intimate development we have been following since his birth.

With a thoughtful and unusual structure in Portrait of a Soul, the author builds a solid and interesting plot, in which we witness impressive turning points in the lives of his vulnerable heroes as we easily pass through six decades of life in Croatia, from 1960 to 2020.
