Bogatstvo mora

Bogatstvo mora

T. S. Douglas

The book provides a comprehensive overview of the potential of the sea as a source of various resources, emphasizing the importance of their sustainable exploitation for future generations.

The book explores the diverse resources that the sea provides, with particular emphasis on minerals, food, and energy.

Douglas analyzes the composition of seawater in detail, highlighting the presence of significant amounts of salt, magnesium, bromine, silver, and gold. For example, a cubic mile of seawater contains approximately 117 million tons of salt (NaCl), 5.9 million tons of magnesium, 283 thousand tons of bromine, 94 tons of silver, and 3 to 4 tons of gold.

In addition to minerals, the author explores the food potential of the sea, including fish, marine plants, and fishery byproducts. He also discusses the possibilities of obtaining energy from the sea, such as the use of ocean currents and waves.
