The novel Small Town Crime by successful American writer Mark Gimenez delivers a superbly tense and layered story that combines elements of a classic courtroom thriller and a deep psychological character study. The plot centers on successful attorney Beck Hardin, who, after more than twenty years of absence, returns to his hometown, a picturesque but socially tense Texas town where old hostilities and injustices continue to simmer.

Upon his return, Beck learns of the unsolved murder of a young girl that has been a dark stain on the conscience of the local community for five years. As the statute of limitations on the case approaches dangerously, he decides to take over the investigation and embarks on a dangerous race against time. However, as he digs into the deeply hidden secrets of influential locals, Beck soon realizes that by accepting this case, he has made the most dangerous decision of his life.
