Mali narodi, među njima i Hrvati, »odgajani« su na kniževnosti velikih naroda: Francuza, Engleza, Nijemaca, Rusa, Američana, Talijana - manje Španjolaca i drugih... Tako se dogodilo da poznajemo i trećo-razredne pisce nekih velikih naroda, a ne poznajemo velikane malih. Donekle i razumljivo, jer su jezici malih naroda slabo znani, gdjekoji gotovo nedostupni - nisu se mogli probiti kroz jezične, kulturne (i političke) barijere što su ih postavili veliki. Izrijetka je tko dosad u nas znao litavski, danski, islandski, flamanski., konačno, a tko je u svijetu znao hrvatski?
