Kur'an Časni

The Qur'an is the holy book of Islam, which is considered a message from Allah through the prophet Muhammad. It is the basic source of religious, moral and legal authority for Muslims. It consists of 114 chapters or suras, which are further divided into v

According to Muslim belief, 610-632. Muhammad, God's Messenger, conveyed God's message, and Muhammad says that God's words were conveyed to him by the angel (Jewish: malach) Jibril (Gabriel, whom Christians consider an archangel, Sraosh for Mazdaists). Muhammad encouraged the writing of the Qur'an, which is divided into 114 suras (chapters). The Arabic in which the Qur'an was written became the standard, so in this respect the Arabic language does not change from st. VII.

Considering classical Arabic as the language of God, Muslims believe that the Qur'an is untranslatable, but it is possible to translate its meaning. In Croatia, as early as 1969, such a translation by Džemaluddin Čaušević from 1937 was published. Now the translation by Besim Korkut from 1976 is mainly used.

The Qur'an is based on the Jewish and Christian Revelation, worships both Musa (Moshe/Moses) and Isa (Jesus) who was born of a virgin as God's prophets, but rejects the idea of the Trinity and forbids God to "attribute others".

The Qur'an teaches what one should believe (iman), what Islamic duties are (ibadat), and how people should be governed (ahlak). In it, Muhammad says: "I was sent to perfect the noble qualities of people." "Qur'an" in Croatian is foreign, an international Arabism: "qur'an" in Arabic is an infinitive which is translated by the verbal noun "reading" or "collecting" (cf. that in Slovenian "brati" means "to read").

Deciding on the translation by M. Panža and Dž. Čaušević, the publisher assessed that, in addition to the existing translation by Besim Korkut, it has its own outstanding value, especially due to the style of the translation, and the excerpt from the preface to the 1937 edition. The publisher, in order to make this excellent translation even more refined, asked the orientalist prof. Omer Mušić and the writer Alija Nametok to redact the translation, taking into account the results of recent scientific interpretations of the Qur'an, which they successfully did.
