At the old fisherman's table, he brings recipes for preparing freshwater fish and records of fishing traditions along the Drava and Danube rivers, preserving the gastronomic and cultural heritage of eastern Croatia.
At the Old Fisherman's Table is a gastronomic-journalistic book by Vladimir Zobundžija from Osijek, dedicated to the tradition of preparing freshwater fish dishes in the areas of Slavonia, Baranja and Podravina. After the author's foreword, there is a series of recipes representing the local fishing cuisine - from fish stew and perkelt to baked, boiled and smoked river fish and other specialties related to the Drava and Danube.
The book not only provides culinary instructions, but also testifies to the customs, fishing experience and culture of communal dining by the river. The afterword entitled "A Guest's Word: Fish, Mushrooms and Wine", written by editor Vladimir Vujnovac, expands the topic to the broader gastronomic culture of eastern Croatia, emphasizing the harmony of river fish with mushrooms and wines and the importance of preserving local culinary heritage.
