Das zweite Buch befasst sich mit der Zeit des Vaterländischen Krieges und der Nachkriegszeit bis zum Sturz Chruschtschows und fasst in einem kurzen Anhang die aktuellen Probleme der Sowjetunion im Lichte von sechs Jahrzehnten postrevolutionärer Geschichte zusammen.
