Rakova obratnica

Rakova obratnica

Henry Miller

The Return of Cancer is the first part of a trilogy that was banned in the US for almost thirty years due to vulgarity and perversity.

Miller is truly the Messiah of erotic prose. He described the sexual adventures of people in a special way, and he often mentions alcohol and atheism (Yarčeva obratnica). Although it may be too vulgar for some or vulgar to the core, it did not leave any topic undeveloped. He was a member of the bohemian literary scene in Paris and there he published his most famous books, long banned in the USA: Cancer's Turn, Capricorn's Turn and Black Spring. In them, sexual fantasy, associated with an abundance of black and cynical humor, fits into the description of the chaotic and irresponsible behavior of people outside of regular occupations. The conscious amorphousness of the composition, in which anecdotes intertwine with natural-mystical meditations, is a reflection of Miller's nihilistic attitude towards civilization.
