Divlji pohod

Divlji pohod

Peter Abrahams

The novel "The Wild Hunt" (1954) by Peter Abrahams follows a group of boys from a poor black community in South Africa who decide to undertake a dangerous venture - hunting a wild boar.

The story describes their everyday life marked by poverty, injustice and racial discrimination during the apartheid era. The main characters want to prove their courage and gain respect, but during the expedition they face their own fears, conflicts within the group and the harsh nature. Hunting becomes a symbol of growing up: through experience, the boys understand the limits of their strength, the importance of unity and the price of violence. The novel also powerfully depicts social inequalities and the difficult position of the black population. The work is at the same time an adventure story and social criticism, with an emphasis on maturation, identity and the struggle for dignity.
