Njen zanosni fenotip

Njen zanosni fenotip

Tatjana Margeta's debut poetry collection from 1984 brings the authentic voice of a generation. Through specific motifs and modernist expression, the poems explore identity, the body, and transience.

The poetry collection Her Enchanting Phenotype by Tatjana Margeta, published in 1984 by the Center for Social Activities (CDD) in Zagreb, represents a significant example of the Croatian poetry scene of the 1980s. The title of the collection itself, which combines biology and aesthetics – by mentioning "phenotype" as a set of visible characteristics of an organism in combination with the poetic adjective "enchanting" – hints at the author's thematic and stylistic approach that combines scientific vocabulary, physicality and intimate lyricism. The poetic expression in this collection is characterized by contemporary language, urban sensibility and reflection on individual identity, inner states and interpersonal relationships. Through her verses, Margeta explores the boundaries between the external, visible world and the internal, emotional reality, often playing with form, rhythm, and metaphor to evoke the layers of female experience and the experience of one's own being. As part of the then progressive publishing edition intended for new literary voices, this collection has remained recorded as an authentic poetic document of a time and an interesting contribution to Croatian postmodernist poetry of the 1980s.
