„Svet je postao lakši za jedan ljudski mozak” – jedan je od njegovih prvih, slavnih stihova.

Prva zbirka pesama Miodraga Pavlovića pod nazivom 87 pesama, postala je, kako kaže kritika, manifest moderne poezije u vreme kada je izdata, 1952. godine. Ovo je drugo izdanje te zbirke, objavljeno 1963. godine. Knjiga je unela novo sagledavanje stvarnosti i atmosferu, osećaj teskobe, straha, očajanja, ali i nade. Pavlović, i sam učesnik i svedok strahota u Drugom svetskom ratu, u ovoj knjizi pesama se najčešće bavi pitanjima rata, nasilja, prolaznosti, zatočeništva… Njegov izraz visoke lirike ovde je bogat metaforom, misaonošću, filozofijom, hermetizmom i otporom prema zlu i haosu.
