Trči mali trči
Run Little Run is a powerful autobiography of Nicky Cruz, the former leader of one of the most violent street gangs in New York, a life full of hate, drugs and crime and his dramatic conversion to Jesus Christ through preacher David Wilkerson.
Nicky was born in Puerto Rico into a family of 18 children, where his mother was a witch and his father was an occult healer. From an early age, he experienced abuse, fear, and spiritual darkness – his mother called him “the son of Satan”. At the age of 15, he moved to Brooklyn, where he joined the Mau-Mau gang (named after an African tribe). He quickly became their war leader – known for brutality, knives, fights, and terror. His life was filled with hatred, alcohol, drugs, murder, and the fear of loneliness.
The key turning point came in 1958 when preacher David Wilkerson (author of “The Cross and the Switchblade”) sought him out in the gang and boldly told him: “Jesus loves you, Nicky Cruz!” After several encounters, Nicky experienced a dramatic conversion – he threw down the knife, cried, and gave his life to Christ. He left the gang, stopped violence, and became an evangelist.
The book describes his journey from darkness to light, emphasizing God's love that changes the worst criminals. The style is direct, emotional, full of shocking details from street life, but also testimonies of the miracle of salvation. Sold in millions of copies, translated into dozens of languages, it inspired films and testimonies. Today it is considered a classic Christian testimony of conversion.
