If you are an active executive in the 21st century, you are already aware of the phenomenon of globalization in industry – although you may not be familiar with the full scope of this phenomenon. But he is, by any measure, huge.
The causes of this phenomenon are explained in detail and very often intensively discussed. They include overseas low cost of labor, few regulatory restrictions, proximity to emerging markets (facilitating sales in these markets), ability to focus domestic resources on product development and marketing, simplification of production technology, growth of supplier groups in different countries, etc.
But there is a parallel phenomenon that is present today - another type of cross-border business - and which could soon surpass its industrial-based cousin in reach and scale: the globalization of services. We call it "relocation of services".
