Mr. Shaitana collects snuffboxes, Egyptian antiquities and - assassins. Not convicted but murderers who were never caught or captured by the police. He invites Hercule Poirot to "see" the collection.

An eccentric party host is murdered in front of a room full of bridge players. Mr. Shaitana was famous and so were his parties. He was also a man whom everyone was a little afraid of. When he boasts to Poirot that he considers murder an art form, the detective is reluctant to accept an invitation to a card party and a tour of Shaitan's private art collection. Indeed, what started as a pleasant evening of bridge turned into a much more dangerous game...
