Historija organizacije i političkih borba grafičkih radnika Hrvatske 1870 – 1955

Vinko Cecić

The book "History of the Organization and Political Struggles of Graphic Workers in Croatia 1870–1955" by Vinko Cecić details the development and struggle of graphic workers for workers' rights in Croatia during the aforementioned period.

In this work, Cecić analyzes key events and figures that shaped the labor movement among graphic workers. Starting with the founding of the first typographical societies in the 1870s, the author traces the evolution of union organizing, highlighting significant strikes, such as the one in 1892, and the struggle for the adoption of tariff regulations in the early 20th century.

Special attention is paid to the period between the two world wars, when typographical organizations united into the Union of Graphic Workers of Yugoslavia in 1920. Cecić also analyzes the impact of political changes on the position of graphic workers, including the challenges during the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, Slovenes, and later the Kingdom of Yugoslavia.

The book concludes with an overview of the situation after World War II, showing the adaptation of unions to new socio-political circumstances and their efforts to rebuild and develop the graphic industry in socialist Croatia.

This work represents valuable material for understanding the history of the labor movement in Croatia, especially within the graphic profession, providing detailed insight into their organizational and political struggles over almost a century.
