Clochemerle u Zagrebu

Clochemerle u Zagrebu

Krešimir Kovačić

This book includes the most interesting excerpts from his writings, which relate to political and social events in Zagreb in the first decades of our century.

The novel is set in Zagreb and follows the everyday lives of citizens, politicians, officials and other characters who often find themselves in absurd and funny situations. Through their conflicts, gossip and misunderstandings, the author depicts the hypocrisy of society, the desire for power and human vanity. Many events in the novel arise from small problems that turn into major conflicts. The characters often care more about their own reputation and interests than about real problems. The author uses humor and irony to criticize social flaws and people's behavior.
