Posmrtna autobiografija

Posmrtna autobiografija

A fascinating autobiographical collage - The Book of Witold Gombrowicz. Through excerpts from diaries, letters and interviews, the work provides an intimate and unsparing insight into the writer's life, thought, art and eternal struggle with form.

"Posthumous Autobiography" is an exceptionally valuable and specific literary work that brings a comprehensive, intimate and unusual insight into the life and work of Witold Gombrowicz, one of the most important and provocative European writers of the 20th century. Constructed as an authentic autobiographical mosaic, this work gathers and chronologically arranges the author's own diverse writings — from excerpts from his famous "Diaries", through personal correspondence and interviews, to lesser-known essays and notes. Through this textual collage, the reader follows Gombrowicz's life and creative path: from his youth in Poland and early literary successes, through the long, difficult exile in Argentina, which he was prompted to enter by the outbreak of World War II, to his later return to Europe and final recognition. The work does not serve merely as a biographical overview of events, but rather reveals the author's complex psychology, his philosophy of "Immaturity" and "Form", as well as a merciless critique of social conventions, national myths and ideological molds. Written in a distinctive Gombrowicz style — imbued with irony, self-irony, sharp lucidity and intellectual rebellion — this autobiographical account is essential reading for understanding his entire oeuvre.
