Dvanaest stolica

Glavni lik romana je domišljati prevarant Ostap Bender, koji ovog puta traži dijamante u jednoj od 12 tapaciranih stolica dignutih u vazduh širom Sovjetskog Saveza.

Ostap Bender je svojim pričama govorio o čitavom nizu slikovitih figura - birokratama, malograđanima, sitnim lopovima, lokalnim moćnicima, naivnim zaverenicima protiv vlasti, novinarima čiji je rečnik pun poštanskih klubova i fraza, glumcima na letnjoj turneji, zaljubljenim komsomolkama, baki vračari i nekoliko lokalnih šahovskih majstora sklonih verovanju da njihov mali grad može postati centar šahovskog sveta. Ostap je na različite načine nadmudrio sve ove nezrele protivnike; nekima je ulivao strah u kosti, drugima je cedio poslednju odeću, dok je drugima samo rugao, skidao im maske ili im lomio srca...
